QIA Positron AI investment

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has participated in Positron AI’s $875 million Series C financing, announced on September 10, 2026.

The funding round values the AI inference hardware company at $5 billion, highlighting growing investor interest in technologies designed to support the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market.

Major Investors Join Funding Round

The Series C financing was co-led by NEA, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, Andra Capital, Jim Clark, founder of Silicon Graphics and Netscape, along with other investors.

QIA had previously invested in Positron AI during the company’s Series B funding round in February 2026.

Positron AI Focuses on Efficient AI Inference

Positron AI develops hardware and software aimed at making AI inference more cost- and energy-efficient.

AI inference refers to the process of running trained AI models to generate results. As the use of AI agents, assistants and copilots continues to expand, inference infrastructure faces increasing pressure from memory capacity, memory bandwidth and power requirements.

Memory-First Architecture Targets AI Challenges

Positron’s memory-first architecture is designed to address these infrastructure challenges while reducing dependence on constrained High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate (CoWoS) supply chains.

The technology is also designed to support deployment in both air-cooled and liquid-cooled data centres, giving operators greater flexibility as AI computing requirements grow.

Funding to Support Next-Generation Technology

The latest financing will help Positron develop and commercialise its next-generation technology.

This includes the tapeout of Asimov, the company’s next-generation silicon, as well as increasing production of Titan, its multi-terabyte-memory inference system.

QIA Strengthens Focus on AI Investment

AI inference is becoming an increasingly important part of global technology infrastructure.

QIA’s continued investment in Positron AI reflects its focus on supporting innovative companies developing technologies that could drive the next phase of AI adoption and long-term growth.
